Movers Anxiety...

Hi BF's!

So, we're moving right. I know I've mentioned this. I am excited, but I'm freaking out at the same time... We are literally driving from one corner of the US, to the other with 2 kids and a dog. We really don't know much of the area except for what we've been finding on the internet. Lil Miss starts Kindergarten this year and I want her to go to a good school, but where are they? I've been looking on greatschools.com but if we don't know where we are going to live how can that help? Speaking of where to live... Where are we going to live? What areas are good, what areas are bad? Which area has the shortest commute time, etc.

In our past moves I didn't face these challenges as Lil Miss wasn't school age. We could pretty much live where we wanted since she went to daycare on base. Now she's school age and I am up to my ears with questions.

We go back to Florida and get things squared away there, then head to Seattle a couple of months later. It's strange thinking of how far we're going to be away from family when we've been close for so long, but we knew it was coming sooner or later.

I guess you could call this me emptying my mind right here. I've been thinking so much that I haven't been able to sleep. I'm also wondering where we should live in FL.... should we try to stay in TLF or find a cheap apt somewhere... If we do go the apartment route, should it be close to base or close to my MIL? See, questions, questions.

I know everything will work itself out, but for right now I'm just a little anxious, and a little bit in panic mode, especially since we don't have a lot of time to figure all this stuff out.

How many times have you moved and experienced something similar? I'd like to know some tips and tricks of the trade pretty please!

Seattle is where you are going? That is a great place...I actually have never been, but heard wonderful things about it!
Kelsey at Seattle Smiths (she is on my blog roll) may have some advice! She doesn't have kids, but may know schools in the area...

Foud you on the Social Parade. :) Now following. Fellow AF wife here.. well, now Air National Guard for now anyhow.

As for your moves... in FL I would try TLF if you are able to. And Seattle... how exciting! That was always on our wish list.

We moved several times and always found the process exciting... the not knowing what to expect, researching what was on the other side, exploring and finding new things. Always look for the positive things.

Good luck with the transitions.

We moved from MA to CO a couple of years ago - for the AF, too. It's not so bad. I have 3 kids, a dog and a cat. At the time it was just 2 cars, 3 kids, and a cat. :) We always figure the school thing out once we get to a location and know if we are living on base or not.
