We are approved!!!

So... You've probably noticed that I wasn't writing much about our upcoming PCS.
I had a reason behind that.
I was scared to.
The Artist was selected to be in the EMFP Program after our initial medical screening.
EFMP = Exceptional Family Member Program.
It's a program that the military has come up with for member's  who have a family member with a chronic medical condition that may require a special treatment or certain type of facility.
The Artist has asthma from her being a preemie and she's been seen for it every year since her birth.
Long story short, our base couldn't approve us for overseas travel.
(cue panic attack)
So off to another base our paperwork went...
Our going with Mr. Sergeant was in the hands of a stranger that we had never met and couldn't plead our case to. That's about when I started to freak out. Then in the middle of that a family disaster struck.

I didn't want to talk about it. I didn't want to write about it. I didn't want to think about it.

But think and talk about it I did.
Write about it not so much.
Why not?
I felt that if I wrote about it then it would become all to real.

Mr. Sergeant called the med group every day for news but nothing was happening

Fast forward to Friday...
I was on base with Mr. Sergeant and he called up the med group who told him

WE HAVE BEEN APPROVED!!!!

I jumped up and down, I cried, I screamed, and I thanked God for being so amazing!

Here we are, a bit under a month out and we're going with him.
I'm so happy and I couldn't wait to share the good news with you all.

Hopefully, we can get everything done in a matter of weeks and be out of here on time!
I'm so excited and can't wait to share all of my overseas adventures with you all.
Pray for my sanity as these are going to be a crazy next couple of weeks. :-)

Woohooo!! That is the BEST feeling after dealing with EFMP (I cried, multiple times through the whole process....and it was just me!)- what a relief! Where are you heading overseas. We are in Germany. Keep writing, it will all FLY by and a year from now it is nice to have some writings to look back on (even if they have frustrated tears, random phone numbers to people you dont know, and international hot toos written in the corners) You'll do great.

Wishing you well on your PCSing. My kids also have severe Asthma & we live overseas (Japan) but they are not EFMP. It has been suggested to us many times that we apply but we never have.Do you mind me asking why you decided to apply?

Yay! I'm glad that it worked out for you guys. I know how stressful moving CONUS can be, I can't imagine trying to deal with EFMP and moving OCONUS at the same time!

Thanks ladies, we are heading to the vacation spot of the middle east... and surprisingly I'm really excited. I seriously can't wait to get there and learn all about a new culture, learn a new language and meet new military families!

@Debra, there was no option to apply. In order for us to PCS anywhere my daughter would have to be in the program. I don't mind it. It's not a bad deal, especially when it comes to knowing that where ever we go they take into consideration her medical care. :-)
It's cool that they gave you the option though!

@Becca, I agree. God is good!

Yay!! I'm currently waiting on the same thing; I had to be enrolled for mental health issues and now I'm waiting helplessly (and have been for almost two months) for some random person to tell me I can go be with my husband...in Hawaii -_-. It's not even really overseas! Ugh.

Anyway, I know what it's like and I'm so so happy for your good news! :)

I'm so freaking happy for you. That is awesome new and has to be such a relief.

I'm a fellow asthma kid. My brothers grew out of theirs, so hopefully she will too.

I didn't but, I must say that it has steadily gotten better and I only have to use my inhaler, maybe three times a month.
