Bahraini Pottery

a friend of mine
asked if I wanted to go
and pick out some pottery
since we're leaving soon
and
I said, Sure!

So we loaded up the kids
and
Mr. Sergeant
(since he's good a finding places)
and
headed out to A'ali Village
in search of the infamous Bahraini pottery.

Here's what we found...

The first place we went...

The Artist found her initial at this place

Right around the corner was another lovely pottery place
named A'ali Pottery, fitting since it's in A'ali Village. LOL

These guys made jokes and were really good with the kids!
Watching them work and interact with each other was a lot of fun.

They put The Artist to work...
She LOVED it!

The Athlete getting in on the fun...

and I tried it out as well. :-)

After our attempt to make pottery
we headed back inside to pick out a couple of pieces.
It was all so lovely, and so unique and since it was handmade
no 2 pieces were exactly alike. The sizes and shapes were different, yet similar,
and there was so much to chose from!

Eventually after about an hour and a half of looking, then haggling the price
we chose our pieces and then waited until this weekend to go pick them up.

There was a Friday Market in full swing when we arrived.

Mr. Sergeant and the Artist with one of the finished products...

I love how they turned out...

and of course, we couldn't resist the temptation to
get a few more pieces...

I can't wait to see them finished. :-)

Stay tuned for more fun!

The pieces are gorgeous! I love how you were able to interact with the pottery makers. Such a wonderful experience I'm sure. :)

I love what you choose. Something to enjoy when you come to the states. Hope they get packed up really well so they will make the trip home. It's fun to look at some of the things we have from England years later.

Wow. Gorgeous pieces of pottery! I love how the kiddos got to get involved and try their hand out at pottery making!

These are really stunning pieces. I did a bit of pottery in art class back in high school. But only the advanced classed got to use the spinning thing. Looks like a fun weekend!

This is way cool, you sure know how to find fun things to do with your family. I can already see your kiddos telling these stories of the fun things they've done in life later in life and scoring major points
